Welcome to the Blues Tubes web site.

Our "News" page will now have reflections on gigs past and events future.

We also plan to add an Amp-aholics page for those interested in collecting, maintaining and modifying amps (partcularly Fender) - this is the idea of our guitarist (and full-time anorak wearer)

Band History

We are a Norfolk / East Anglia based band featuring music sourced from the blues and beyond. We have been together for 9 years and our core line-up features guitar, bass and drums. We augment this with tenor and alto sax and piano for larger venues.

The band can be found most weeks in and around King's Lynn, Norfolk combining regular appearances at "music" pubs and an increasing number of theatre and private functions.

Please feel free to contact the band at:

So............ a little band history......

Why The Name?

Paul's favourite gigging amp - '65 Fender Super Reverb

Well it's rather sad but.............. Blues 'cos we are a blues band (or so we like to think ) and Tubes 'cos this is the American word for valves and as we guitar anoraks know, the best, classic blues guitar sound comes from guitar amplifiers fitted with valves (tubes) ..... like the one in the picture .....as opposed to transistors..........so Blues Tubes.

Nobody said the explanation was all that interesting now did they!!

hey??

  What Music?

The Blues Tubes started life as a 5-piece band featuring 2 saxophones and drew repertoire from the Atlantic Soul catalogue (think Commitments / Blues Brothers).

With various changes of personnel, the band evolved the trio format and now, whilst still playing some of those great numbers, feature more guitar-based music of BB King, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan (a particular fave of Paul) and more recently, tunes by Lynryd Skynyrd (?spelling), Robben Ford, Albert and Freddie King and ZZ Top.
